Marginally stupid? That’s a question for Michael Kroger’s Victorian Liberal Party

News flash: Richmond is no longer a dead red Labor seat! Thanks to the political genius of Michael Kroger it has now been declared a ‘marginal seat’ that is winnable for the Liberal Party.

Yep, that’s the shock revelation just delivered to us by Richmond Liberal Party candidate, and Michael Kroger stooge, Maina Walkley of East Hawthorn and Darryn ‘The Lemming’ Spedding, her campaign manager from Doncaster, in their first big flashy full colour no-expenses-spared newsletter! Talk about starting a campaign with a bang. The newsletter’s headline screams:

Maina contests marginal seat!

Let’s see now. In the last State election one in five people voted Liberal in Richmond. Almost everyone else voted Labor or Green. I guess that means the Liberal Party really is a footnote in the margins of Richmond. So, yes it is a ‘marginal’ seat of sorts. Maina claims that Richmond has: ‘a margin of 25.56 per cent in favour of the ALP’.

Not correct. Based on the last state election, the Liberals would need a 25.56 per cent swing to win Richmond while the Greens would need a swing of less than 3 percent to win the seat. The master plan, according to Maina Walkley’s gung-ho campaign manager, Darryn ‘The Lemming’ Spedding, is for her to run a campaign that will ‘make Labor and the Greens sit up and pay attention’.

Not Labor voters or Green voters — but the Labor Party and the Green Party.

Victorian Liberal Party President, Russell Hannon really gets off on that sort of macho talk. Well, that’s not surprising since he’s riding high at the moment after Peter Costello recently snubbed Ted Baillieu at a Party gathering and urged all Liberals to get behind Russell Hannon ‘and his [Hannon’s] great team’. Of course everyone at the gathering knew that Costello’s enjoinder was code for get behind Michael Kroger and his backstabbing crew. If Kroger and Costello knew what was said about them afterwards even they would blush.

More good news! Maina Walkley has enormous support! ‘The Philippine (sic) community has already planned three fund raising events’. That’s not the Filipino community of Richmond, by the way. It’s her Filipino pals from the Western suburbs who have suddenly become very excited about seeing that Richmond gets what it deserves. What about the local Liberal Party branch? What about the local Richmond community? Uhm well they ‘have also been supportive’, in a rather tepid way.

Since Maina wants to win the support of Richmond voters it might come in handy to have at least a little bit of support from the local Liberal Party branch, don’t you reckon? Especially since they’re still mighty peeved at having their preferred candidate, pro free-market activist and long-time Richmond resident Prodos Marinakis, knifed in the back by Michael Kroger’s smearmongers.

Not to mention the fact that under Kroger’s instructions, the Party’s Constitutional rules were bent so that the local branch was stripped of its voting rights at the Richmond Preselection Convention.

Then there was the fact that Maina was neither a member of the Liberal Party nor of the local Richmond branch at the time she applied for preselection. Fortunately for her Kroger arranged a special ‘dispensation’ and then had Julian ‘Iron Man Julie’ Sheezel rubber stamp it. It was this devious manouvre that finally allowed her to stand for preselection. (Incidently, Iron Man Julie’s favourite song is Puppet on a String).

The newsletter makes it brazenly clear that Maina’s main support base is not the local community, but the Filipino community. But not the local Filipino community of Richmond — since there ain’t one. Because of the unsavoury way Maina, who is not a local, was selected by the treacherous Kroger team she is going to be relying on non-locals to beat the local Labor and Green candidates.

Making it worse for the Liberals is the hard fact that she has never been connected in anyway with Richmond. Moreover, as far as the Labour Party and the Greens are concerned Kroger is the gift that keeps on giving. We can easily see why once we take a look at the shenanigans of this moral pocket-sized would-be Napoleon.

Maina Walkley has a long history of doing deals with government and getting by with special favours. Also of using taxpayers’ money to promote her pet multicultural projects: promoting the government of the Philippines (not of Australia) and promoting the Filipino community in the Western suburbs (not the community at large — let alone the community of Richmond). It’s no wonder most Australians are sick to death of the tax-consuming multicultural parasites.

Darryn Spedding writes that “Maina is working hard to deliver results to the people of Richmond”. Results? What results? Well, for one thing she’s intent on ‘sharing her traditional culture’ with Richmond voters. And demonstrating how she’s in touch with ‘the needs and aspirations of Migrants’.

And what the hell has any of this got to do with Liberal Party principles?
