In 1983 Kevin Cooper escaped from a California minimum security facility where he had been serving time for burglary. However, cooper was a violent thug who had been jailed under a false name and was wanted for serious crimes, including rape.

Shortly after making his escape Kevin Cooper broke into the Ryen house. Using a hatchet and a knife he butchered 41-year-old Douglas Ryen and his wife 41-year-old Peggy Ryen. Cooper also hacked to death ten-year-old sister Jessica and her 11-year-old friend Christopher Hughes. Not content with his gruesome crimes he used his knife to carve a pattern into Jessica's chest.

Eight-year-old Joshua Ryen was the only survivor of the massacre, despite the fact that Kevin Cooper had cut the boy's throat as he slept.

Notwithstanding conclusive evidence of Cooper's guilt, including DNA showing that he was at the scene of the crime, Hollywood celebrities have declared him innocent. Who are these celebrities and what motivates their sick attitude toward sadistic criminals like Kevin Cooper?

As expected there is Mike Farrell, James Cromwell, Richard Dreyfuss, Janeane Garofalo, Danny Glover, Sean Penn, Anjelica Huston, Denzel Washington. And let us not forget the ubiquitous and corrupt Jesse Jackson.

Let's start with the humane and deeply patriotic Mr Farrell who has assumed the leadership of this crew of self-righteous celluloid intellectuals. This joker is another lefty Hollywood type who is in love with Marxist-Leninist thugs. He loves his country so much that in 1985 he flew down to San Salvador and gave physical aid to Nidia Diaz, a guerilla leader of the Marxist Central American Workers Party.

Two months earlier Diaz had participated in the murder of four US Marines, two American businessmen and nine civilians. Farrell's response to these atrocities was to declare, according to Sandra "Sand" Brim of Medical Aid for El Salvador, that "it was the most important role in his life."

(His support for Marxist-Leninist terrorists helps explain why he wouldn't condemn Castro's crackdown on dissidents. Farrell refuses to even accept the fact that Castro is a totalitarian dictator. But he had no problem in describing President Reagan as a "Frankenstein Monster").

That the terrorist Diaz was enthusiastic about murdering Americans, as well as locals who disagreed with him, didn't bother the intolerant Mr Farrell. (Perhaps he thinks that American businessmen deserve to be murdered).

His hatred of the US and its law enforcement agencies is so deep that he gives unconditional support to convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal who murdered in cold blood Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner, even going so far as to publicly lie for him. He also lied for Saddam Hussein by ludicrously claiming that he had been cooperating with the UN, and that he had not expelled weapons inspectors in 1998.

James Cromwell is not far removed from Farrell's anti-American extremism. This character supported Hollywood Stalinists as well as illegal immigration (hell, someone got to cut his lawn and do his laundry). This self-professed socialist tried to justify his Bush-hating by claiming that the only difference between Hitler and President Bush was that Hitler was smarter.

Although Dreyfus has been dealt with elsewhere (Richard Dreyfus and Hollywood's hateful left) a couple of observations on this self-hating Jew are still warranted given his support for a murderer. Like Farrell, Dreyfus is a liar and a hypocrite. Apart from calling Hollywood Stalinists "principled" he also gave moral support to "Arab terrorism". Now he's supporting the murderous Kevin Cooper.

Standing alongside these moral giants was Danny Glover, a man with a soft spot for baby-killer Castro. Glover's grovelling attitude to Castro and his willingness to cover up for his crimes sometimes makes my wonder whether Hollywood's adulation for Castro is connected with a belief that he only murders white people.

This is an important point. Castro engages in systematic torture, public beatings and summary executions, some of which have involved infants. And yet to the likes of Glover and Jack Nicholson Castro "is a genius"; Robert 'Che Guevara' Redford, Steven Spiegel and Kevin Costner, etc, kiss his bloodstained boots at every opportunity. The hypocrisy of the Hollywood crowd reveals much about their contempt for the suffering of others.

Danny Glover is a particularly shocking example of this hypocrisy. While enjoying himself in Havana he signed a letter with the fanatically anti-American Belafonte Castro's Granma newspaper published. The letter defended attacked President Bush and defended Castro's murderous regime. Somewhat later Glover abused Bush as a racist while still turning a blind eye to Castro's atrocities.

Needless to say, this shill for Castro has refused to condemn any of Castro's killings, even when the victims are blacks and children. This lying hypocrite is now presenting himself to the American public as a humanitarian whose only concern in the Cooper case is to see that justice is done. If there was any real justice in Hollywood this slime ball would have been run out of town years ago, along with the rest of his fellow-travelling fifth columnists.

Now come to Anjelica Huston, Janeane Garofalo, Sean Penn and Denzel Washington. Of Huston, what is to be said of someone with a teleprompter for a brain? Garofalo is a public spectacle whose buffoonery has done much, in my opinion, to expose Hollywood's intellectual pretensions and political bigotry. Penn's stupidity and bigotry is plain to see. Any bloke who would let a Stalinist like Medea Benjamin lead him by the nose around Iraq is definitely not playing with a full deck.

What of the very successful and charming Mr Washington? Why would he come out and defend a sadistic murderer? Washington played the role of Rubin Carter in the film Hurricane Carter which depicted Carter as a victim of a racist legal system. In fact, just about every frame in the film was a lie. And that makes the script writers liars, the producers liars, the director a liar. So what does that make Mr Washington?

Carter was a brutal thug with a nasty criminal record. In 1966 he and his pal John Artis walked into a pub in New Jersey in which four white people were drinking and shot all of them, killing three. Carter was convicted twice for these murders and was only released on a technicality. He revealed his true nature when he told a writer that as a young man he used to "shoot at people. . . Some-times just to shoot at 'em, sometimes to hit 'em, sometimes to kill 'em."

Now the noble and very successful Mr Washington is out to get a hatchet murderer released. Is it a coincidence that the killer is black and victims white, Mr Washington? Does anyone believe for a moment that if the situation were reversed and the victims were black and Kevin Cooper was white that any of these Hollywood celebrities, particularly the repulsive cop-hating Mike Farrell, would stump for the killer?

The sickening drumbeat of these phony humanitarians is not just one of reverse racism, there is also something equally nasty afoot. What we have here is a total inability to emphasize with Kevin Cooper's victims. It's the same with Castro's victims. It seems to me that these Hollywood activists are so devoid of genuine humanity that they cannot put themselves in the place of the victim.

Empathy is fundamental to our humanity. It's one of those important things that separates us from the animal kingdom. But we can lose it, and when that happens it's open season for tyrants and all manner of murderous thugs, so long as they adhere to the current politically correct ideology.

For instance, when in 1998 Hurricane Mitch swept through Central America, devastating the region and killing 11,000 locals, where was the leftwing Farrell and his Reagan-hating comrades? No where to be found. They didn't care. Yet Farrell would cheerfully fly there at his own expense to give aid and comfort to a murdering leftwing terrorist. No wonder I have come to believe that the likes of Farrell are suffering from a sickness of the soul.

The attitude of the Hollywood crowd reminds me of Harold Ware and his Jessica Smith. Both were dedicated communists, Harold, a farm-policy specialist, operated the Ware spy group from Washington until he was killed in a car crash.

In the 1920s Ware and his wife went to the USSR to establish a collectivist farm. Soviet archives reveal the project as a disaster. What was striking about the affair was the brutality that Ware and Smith freely visited on the hapless peasants. Years later the thuggish Ware became an official in Roosevelt's New Deal Agricultural Adjustment Administration.

It makes me wonder how many Hollywood defenders of Castro and the murderous likes of Kevin Cooper really hamper for the kind of untrammelled power that Ware and his wife once enjoyed.
